The IKA Pette vario 0.5 – 5 ml is engineered for professionals who require consistent accuracy when transferring larger sample volumes. It operates on the air-displacement principle and is constructed from premium, impact-resistant, and UV-resistant materials. Unlike the smaller models in the series that use DLC-coated steel, this macro-pipette utilizes PPSU (polysulfone) for the piston and PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) for the tip cone. These high-performance plastics are chosen for their exceptional chemical resistance and mechanical stiffness, ensuring the device remains reliable even with aggressive reagents.
One of its most distinctive features is the exchangeable handle system. Each unit is delivered with three different grips (small, medium, and large), allowing users to customize the pipette to their specific hand size to minimize strain and the risk of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The volume is adjusted in two stages (coarse and fine) via a central multifunction button that also serves as a secure volume lock and a tip ejector. The unit is color-coded green, is fully autoclavable at 121°C, and features a large mechanical display for high visibility.
